~News of the Week~

Taken on our last visit to the marina, up at the lake.
A beautiful Indian summer day.
The leaves were about 40% changed.
Since then we have had several hard frosts,
& most of them will have fallen.
The lake looks like silver.
The sun is lower in the sky, and the wind is picking up.
Closing everything up. The end of another season.
Last week we went up to the lake for what will probably be our last visit of the season. It was a beautiful day, and we stopped at our favourite restaurant, called Just for the Halibut, for dinner on the way home. Baked tilapia, with garlic and herbs, baked acorn squash, carrots and parsnips, and a baked potato with lots of sour cream. I love it when a restaurant serves seasonal vegetables instead of frozen stuff. Lots has happened since I was last here.  The fun news is we have bought a boat. A 27 foot cabin cruiser which we will enjoy  next summer. My youngest sister and her hubby.  So hubby bought their boat... they had it new 7 years ago, so we know it has been well cared for. My sis, who is a James Bond fan from way back, named the boat Shaken Knot Stirred. Their new one will likely be Shaken Knot Stirred II.
We have read and been told it is unlucky to change the name of a boat, but we have a name we really would like to use. So I will research the possibility of renaming her without incurring the wrath of the gods of the deep. Our first boat was a sailboat called Sailbad the Sinner, many years ago. But since we were novices we thought the name appropriate and kept it.
Well I must get ready for my house guest for the next week. My middle sister is bringing over her 'inheritance', Jesse the shih tsu. She is off to Aruba for a well earned rest and Jesse is just to old to go to kennels. To make things interesting I woke this morning and found our water was turned off. The city works department are replacing all the pipes and utility connections in our sub division, no notice that the water would be off. It's the second time this month.
Have a great weekend everyone...see you next week.

  1. Congrats on the boat. I love the name! Very cute.

And good news on all the health issues. Not so good on the water issue. Around here it seems that it's the electricity that's always being messed with.
