~ The New Year has begun ~

The decorations have been packed away and the house is tidy.
It's been a dull day and dark inside but for the orange flames dancing in the fireplace.
I snuggled with a book under a faux fur throw, a gift from my son and his wife. Nothing to do and nowhere I need to go. I like days like this.
The night before last, while others were celebrating the coming New Year, we sat talking together after a meal at home. We didn't see the Year in with a 'drink' unless tea counts, in fact my husband didn't see it in at all. He went to bed at 10.30pm.
I watched an ailing Dick Clarke who still manages to look good, despite recent health set backs, and then went to bed about 10 minutes into 2009. Neighborhood noises reminded me that parties were going on, but even then, by one o'clock all was quiet. I lay until almost 4 o'clock, unable to sleep, nothing on my mind.. just not sleepy. Then I thought about the tea and coffee I had consumed during the day...at least 4, maybe 5 cups. My limit is usually two or three, and never after seven o'clock. So last night was an early one as I really was sleepy, and sleep I did. Lots of silly dreams centered around a rabbit. Cute, and gray with white paws and bib, and big floppy ears.
I was sad because no one wanted him, I tried to give him away but each offer met with refusal.Eventually I abandoned him, something I could never do in real life. I watched him wriggle under a fence and jump into a pond and swim away. He reached the other side, climbed out, shook himself and hopped away. I went home and he was there waiting for me. I picked him up and hugged him, and promised I would never leave him again.

This morning I had to see what it meant, and my dream book tells me it means a favourable turn in conditions and I will be more pleased with my gains than before. It also denotes faithfulness in love. Poor bunny how could I have spurned him.
Do you ever wonder what your subconscious mind is trying to tell you?

  6. Happy New Year, dear Sheila!!

Oh my, what a treat to start the new year with, YOU blogging again:-)I'm just so thrilled to see you back!!

I don't know what it is about going to bed at 10:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve because that's the time I also went to bed and a couple of other people have said that's the time they went to bed as well! lol

Dreams certainly can be quite confusing and I always enjoy trying to find out what they mean. Here's to the rabbit dream being right:-)

Wishing you and yours all the very best that 2009 has to offer, dear Sheila! xoxo

Loved the account of your rabbit dream, I rarely dream these days, or perhaps it is more that I rarely remember my dreams.
I am making some big changes this year... living by myself, a new grandchild on the way, new plans, new ambitions... 2009 is going to be interesting.
And I wish you and your husband good health, happiness and love.... all the really important things in life.

  16. Sheila - I am so thrilled that you are back blogging again. I missed you. Thanks for commenting on my blog so that I could know you are back.

That rabbit dream was extremely interesting. I am getting tired of mine - I have the same old ones. One is driving a car careening out of control and I can't reach the pedals. the other two concentrate on school: one is going to a final college exam and not knowing where the class is much less having done any reading/lessons, the other is going back for one last semester after an absence. Now why do I dream these when I was an excellent student who always went to class and got A's and went straight through college to the end. Hmm, that would be interesting to learn.

  17. Oh mother. How could you?
You know, dreams make us wonder that. We do things we would never do. Maybe it is our way of testing the waters, to see what consequences of our actions will be.
You would NEVER abandon a bunny. And if you did, perchance, it is entirely likely that he wouldn't accept it and be right there waiting for you with unconditional love. Kind of like children. And parents.
    xoxo

Great to see you back Sheila. My blog is very sparse at being posted to, but I`m trying to hang in there :)
We only get to Courtis once a year, but what fun it would be to stop in.
May yours and my dreams all come true this year!
The conscious ones I mean LOL

  20. Oh how I have missed you! It is good to see that you are back...

I have been meaning to e-mail you. Rob has been my focus. He is back in Nebraska now, and I have time on my hands once again.

Our New Years Eve was on the quiet side too.

I do wonder about our dreams and what they might really mean. Interesting book you have!
I would like the name of it.

    :)

  24. Dear Shelia,
    Happy New Year.
    Happy New Blog.
I also wonder what in the world all these dreams mean. I think random firing of neurons most od the time. Than I have a dream so vivid I take notice.
Good outcomes in 2009. I love that.
